Best Books I've Read So Far In 2018

2018 is almost over and I’ve read around twenty books till now I feel so happy about the fact that I’ve read so many wonderful books. So I decided to share with you guys, some of the best books which I’ve read so far this year and which I am sure that I will definitely be re-reading in the future. I’ve reviewed almost all of these books on my blog or on my instagram feed (ravisha_pushkar), so you can check out their reviews as well.

1) The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky:

So ‘The Perks of being a Wallflower’ is undoubtedly one of the best books I’ve read till date. I saw the movie a while back and I loved it so much that I had to read the book. I definitely found the book to be much better than the movie. The book is so beautifully written in the form of letters and addresses so many important issues in relation to sexual abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. The main character ’Charlie’ has been shown as a teenager who is very introvert and suffers flashbacks from the death of two very important people of his life. I love the way the story has been brought out, I love the narration, I love the plot, I love the ending, I love everything about the book. Therefore it’s obviously one of the best books I’ve read this year and I think everybody should give it a read.
"So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them."

2) Asura by Anand Neelkantan:

‘Asura’ is the best mythological fiction I’ve read till date and reading it has been a great experience for me. I loved how the story of Ramayana has been described from the point of view Ravana who has been described as a positive character. The best thing about the book is that it portrays war only from the point of view of suffering. It does not show war as something which decides who wins and who loses but as something which has an effect on each and every person involved even remotely to the war. It brings out different aspects of war. It has been written so beautifully which makes it a must read. It’s definitely one of those reads which I’ve enjoyed the most this year and I would definitely re-read it soon.
"I had lived as Ravana and I would die as Ravana. I did not intend to become Rama, the perfect man and God. There was no dearth of Gods in my country. It only lacked men."

3) Princess by Jean Sasson:

As I have already mentioned so many times, Jean Sasson is one of my favourite authors and I love all the books written by her. So this year I read ‘Princess’ which is the story of Princess Sulata who belonged to a royal family in Saudi Arabia. The sufferings of the muslim females have been described in such a wonderful and real manner that I loved the book in all its ways. I’ve already purchased the second part of the series and will be reading it very soon. I just love the author’s way of writing. The way she brings out the real incidents is just wonderful. Every time I read a book written by the author, I  always get so emotional about all the real instances described. ‘Princess’ is a very special book for me as I love the fact that how strong and powerful Princess Sultana was and therefore it teaches and inspires all the females to fight for their rights and to never be afraid. It is one of the best books I’ve ever read and I can't wait to read the further parts of the series.
"When you harm a woman, you harm the whole world."

4) Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Mass:

‘Throne of Glass’ has been a book which I’ve enjoyed reading the most. I am already reading its second part ‘Crown Of Midnight’. I love reading fantasy which is the main reason why I enjoyed this book so much. It’s got all the elements which will make the reader interested in reading it. The story of Celena Sardothien who is an assassin is a story which I am sure will be enjoyed by anybody who reads it. Though it was just the first part of a series of seven books, it was still enjoyable in itself. Trust me, if you read this book you will enjoy it no matter what. It’s obviously a treat for people who are into reading fantasy (like me). Though I read the book recently, I loved it so much that I am already reading its second part and enjoying it equally. I hope it turns out to be a wonderful series.
"No. I can survive well enough on my own- if given the proper reading material."

5) I Am Malala:

‘I Am Malala’ is the latest book which I reviewed on my blog and I totally loved it. The fact I loved the most about the book is that how inspiring it is. It teaches you to be strong and not to give up no matter what the circumstances are. The sufferings of the people in Pakistan under the Taliban rule have been described by Malala in such a manner which helps you understand the suffering of these people. It helps you realise that how small your problems are and that how much privileged you are to be living a normal life. Malala’s courage and strength is something which provides inspiration to each and every female. I just loved the book and it’s definitely the best autobiography I’ve ever read.
"When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful."

So these were some of the best books I read so far in 2018. I am sure I’ll be reading many more wonderful books before 2018 ends and I won’t forget to update you guys about them.

Thank you for reading. :)
