About the Author: Sarah J.Maas is a famous New York based writer who is famous for writing the Throne of Glass series. The first book of the series was published in 2012 and the seventh and the last book of the series is due to release in 2018. You can check out her website here.

About the Book: Crown of Midnight is the second part of the Throne of Glass series which is a fantasy book series. It was published in 2014 and discusses the story in furtherance of what happens when Celena Sardothien, an assassin, becomes the King’s Champion at the end of the first Throne of Glass book. The king of Adarlan starts giving her secret tasks of killing people throughout the kingdom and Celena starts faking those deaths. It is when she is given the task to kill Archer Finn, a suspected rebel, when she realises that a group is rising in Adarlan against the king to remove him from the throne and to bring into power the lost heir of Teraasen, Aelin Galathynius. The love story between Celena and Chaol (the Captain of the Guard) also starts taking pace. Throughout the book, Celena discovers a lot of clues about what the king must be planning to do and also that where does the source of his power lie. A lot many new characters like Mort, Roland, Archer, etc. are also introduced in the second part. A lot of sequences in relation to magic are introduced as well which lead to many theories, plots and suspense in the story. Dorian Havilliard, the crown prince of Adarlan also discovers hidden secrets about himself and the kingdom which again makes him one of the most important character of the series. A lot many questions are answered while others are left unanswered for the readers to ponder upon while they read the third part of the series.

Review: So I read the first part of the series around two months back as it was suggested to me by many people. You can check out the review of the first book, Throne of Glass on my Instagram account (ravisha_pushkar).
I bought the second part right after I finished reading the first book of the series. I just loved the first part of the series and so I had a lot of expectations when I started with the second part. I frankly loved the second part of the series more than the first part since the story was much more intensified and all the elements which make fantasy perfect are incorporated in the story in such a wonderful way which make me really happy. The story has been given a very interesting turn from the start. The new plot lines introduced in this part were very interesting and made me stick to the book. There was not even a single moment when I got bored of the book. The growth of the characters throughout the book is also something which I found really nice. All the major characters- Celena, Dorian, Chaol, Nehemia have kept growing throughout the story and have become more intense and smart. All the elements of fantasy have also been brought out in such a wonderful manner that it would be enjoyed by every person who is into reading fantasy. I completely loved everything about the book. The way the book has been written is really beautiful and all the scenes specially the ones involving duels have been described wonderfully. The book leaves the reader pondering upon questions and secrets revealed in this part which I am sure will be answered in the further parts of the series. It’s one of those series which I am enjoying reading and I would definitely be reading the third part of the series soon.

To read or not to read: Throne of Glass is a wonderful fantasy series which I would definitely recommend all of you to read. If you have read the first part then do definitely read the further parts and if you haven’t read the first part then trust me you are missing out on something really really good. Just start this series and I can guarantee that it will be enjoyed by everyone who reads it. It is not something which is very philosophical or which will help you learn things, but it is a series which you will enjoy a lot.
