Book Review- Thank God I’m Fired: A Corporate Enigma by Sandeep Pawar

About the Book:

Thank God I’m Fired is a novella of just forty three pages written by Sandeep Pawar. It’s a mini success story of Raghav who works as a software developer in a corporate. The story starts with the first chapter in which Raghav is fired from his job. The story then proceeds in flashback which reveals that how Raghav was fed up of working in a corporate and was not able to use his talents and skills to the fullest. It’s the story of a guy who eventually discovers his talent and creativity in creating memes and how he finally decides to quit his high-paying corporate job in order to take a risk and follow his passion with the help of his co-worker Indu. The story brings out a reality of people employed in corporates and also the scenario of tech-parks. There are a large number of people working today in corporates  but it’s the truth that not all of them are satisfied with the work they are doing. It’s a story which brings out the reality of such people and also provides inspiration.

Review:

So I just received this e-book as a review copy yesterday and it’s so short and compact that it took me only two hours to finish it and it instantly filled me up with a lot of enthusiasm and and boosted up my spirits. It’s like a short story which gives you perspective of dealing with your life choices. It brings out a harsh reality of people working in corporates who feel that their talents and skills are being suppressed. The best thing about the story is that it acknowledges the fact that a person doesn’t need to be working as an engineer, doctor or lawyer in order to be successful in life. A person should always follow his creative mind and apply his skills to whatever his interest is. The story brings out the task of making memes as a creative task which people can undertake in order to correctly utilise their talents. This definitely was the best thing about the story. Also, it brings out an appropriate message that you should not run after money because money doesn’t always gives you satisfaction in life and that you only feel contended when you are purely satisfied with the work you are doing and also enjoying it at the same time. Raghav’s character in the story is very original and how he is afraid to take a lifetime risk with his career is something which was very real and relatable. The book on a whole was great and was a perfect short time read.
