All about the 17th National Book Fair, Lucknow

About the Fair:

The National Book Fair is organised every year in Lucknow, UP for a period of ten days during the month of September. This is the 17th year in a row when this fair has been organised. It started on 20th September and will end on 29th September of this month. This year, the Book Fair is based on the theme of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. Special book stalls have been set up which offer books on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. This year the fair has been organised by Mr. Manoj Chandel along with The Federation of Publishers And Booksellers Association in India. The Book Fair consists of a number of book stalls which offer first hand as well as second hand books at minimal prices. You get a good amount of discount on books and can buy a book for less than a hundred bucks. Apart from book stalls, quite a number of stalls are set up which offer stationery, bags, food, etc. at very low prices. Many shows and competitions are also taking place daily at the Book Fair and so you can visit the Book fair till 29th September, 2019 at Moti Mahal Lawn, Hazratganj, Lucknow.

My Experience:

Since I live in Lucknow, I’ve been visiting the book fair every year since I was a kid. It has always been a fun experience for me as I’m someone who loves buying and reading books. This time I visited the book fair with a friend and had a wonderful experience. As compared to last year, the number of books are less but are available on a number of diverse topics. But the thing which bumped me this year at the fair was that the books aren’t available at much discount and are being sold at sky high prices. I guess the best time to visit the fair is during the day since it is not much crowded and you can easily bargain. I felt that this time the quality of the books is great and is definitely better than the last time. The stalls offering stationery and bags also had great stuff at cheap prices. The best thing about the Book Fair is that a number of second hand books are available at cheap prices and therefore it is the best place for students to buy books from. As the fair happens once in a year, it attracts a lot of people and is always a success. Personally, I had a wonderful experience at the fair as I always do. It never disappoints me. So I would definitely recommend all of you book lovers to visit the book fair before 29th September and not to miss a chance to buy a large number of amazing books.

What I bought:

I bought five books and two bags this time for a total of over thousand bucks which was much more as compared to the last year. I think it’s great that I was able to get my hands on six books which have been on my TBR and I’m quite satisfied with all the purchases I made.

To Visit or not to Visit:

If you are a reader who is looking for books to buy in bulk then you should definitely visit the fair. Trust me, it’ll be a great experience. Also, if you are someone who is looking for some religious or cultural books to read then you’ll find a lot of stuff here for free or at really low prices. You can also enjoy the food stalls, buy some beautiful stationery and also buy some beautiful and cheap jute bags. So visit this fair till 29th September at Moti Mahal Lawn, Hazratganj, it starts at 11am in the morning and is open till 9pm. Buy a lot of books and keep reading!

Thank you for reading! :)
