Review: 16th National Book Fair, Lucknow

Review: 16th National Book Fair, Lucknow

About the Fair:

The National Book Fair is organised every year in Lucknow, UP for a period of ten days during September end. This is the 16th year in a row when this fair has been organised. It started on 28th September and has been organised by Mr. Manoj Chandel this time. This year, the Book Fair is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi on account of his 150th birth anniversary, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and poet Gopal Das Neeraj. Special book stalls have been set up which offer books on the lives of these people. The Book Fair consists of a number of book stalls which offer first hand as well as second hand books at minimal prices. You get a huge discount on books and can buy a book even for fifty rupees. Apart from book stalls, quite a number of stalls are set up which offer stationery, jewellery, food, etc. at very low prices. Many shows and competitions are also taking place daily at the Book Fair and so you can visit the Book fair till 7th October, 2018 at Moti Mahal Lawn, Hazratganj, Lucknow.

My Experience:

So since I live in Lucknow, I’ve been visiting the Book Fair every year since I was a kid. As a kid I would just go there and buy all the comics and colouring books I could get my hands on. It has always been a fun experience for me. This time, I visited the book fair with a friend and had a nice experience. As compared to last year, the number of book stalls are less but I feel that this time I was able to get my hands on much cheaper books. I guess the best time to visit the fair is during the day since it is not much crowded and you can easily bargain. I felt that this time the quality of the books is great and is definitely better than the last time. The stalls offering stationery also had great stuff and I just wanted to buy everything. The best thing about the Book Fair is that all the books are so cheap and therefore it is the best place for students to buy books from. As the fair happens once in a year, it attracts a lot of people and is always a success. Personally, I had a wonderful experience at the fair as I always do. It never disappoints me. So I would definitely recommend all of you book lovers to visit the book fair before 7th October and not to miss a chance to buy books at such low prices.

What I bought:

So I bought four books this time and that too just for four hundred and eighty rupees which I feel is a great deal. My friend also got a book for two hundred rupees. I think it’s great that I was able to get my hands on books which have been on my TBR list for so long at such a low price and I’m very happy with all the purchases I made.

To Visit or not to Visit:

If you are a reader who is looking for cheap books to buy in bulk then you should definitely visit the fair. Trust me, it’ll be a great experience. Also, if you are someone who is looking for some religious or cultural books to read then you’ll find a lot of stuff here at really low prices. You can also enjoy the food stalls, buy some beautiful stationery and also buy some cheap jewellery. So visit this fair till 7th October at Moti Mahal Lawn, Hazratganj, it starts at around 11am in the morning and is open till 9pm. Buy a lot of books and have a great reading experience!

Thank you for reading!
